three items in one as issued, the imprint date of the first is 1844, none for the second, and Fifth Edition but no date for the third; narrow quarto, 242, [2], [1] (advertisement for other works by author, with an advertisement in pink and blue for his Original History of Ancient America (published 1843) tipped in on the same page; brown original cloth rubbed and worn with staining at bottom portion of front cover, hinges broken and front free endpaper gone, general light age toning to text, reading copy; Jones, who styled himself as Count Joannes, was an actor and a highly eccentric character (but not so off center that he was not admitted to the New York Bar after he came to America, even though convicted of barratry in Massachusetts), may be the first edition of the first two items.
